Simple arrangements and unexpected materials for decorating is a great way to make rooms in your house pop without spending the money to do so. Here are some ways to spruce up your home in no time at all:
Create a Side Table: Plenty of people have side tables in their home, but you can have your own side table creation that stands out. Stack modular storage units (from $22, amazon.com) to make a stepped side table with surfaces for displays and lighting. Create miniature still lifes in the cubbies, or stack reading material that you want to store.
Hang Plates!: I bet not many people would think to do this as a decorating technique. Hanging plates in various hues and textures makes a very nice arrangement on your wall. Lay out the plates before to experiment on what looks good. Here’s a tip: Put the most dramatic plate toward the center and simpler ones around it, attach wire plate hangers and hang plates on picture nails.
Repurpose Furniture: Wooden seating can be given a second purpose as a bedside table. If there’s a hole in the caning, put a tray on the chair to hold an alarm clock, a reading lamp, etc.
