Trusted Reputation: You may already know that Judd Builders is a trendsetter when it comes to building active adult communities in the Delaware Valley. We’ve been building this reputation for many years now by developing 55+ communities that are virtually maintenance-free and promise care-free living in some of the most picturesque areas Pennsylvania has to offer.

Virtually Maintenance Free: Included in your monthly dues are snow removal, trash removal and grass cutting, so you don’t have to worry about general maintenance and outdoor upkeep all throughout the year.

Energy-Saving Appliances: Save time, energy, and money with our eco-friendly appliances. They use less heat, less water – less everything! Take a look at Meadow View Farms where we install gourmet kitchens with stainless steel GE® appliances. It’s not just the appliances that are energy efficient. We offer the highest quality materials and workmanship as part of our energy-efficient construction practices, so you can be rest assured your whole home is designed to work with the environment.

Access to Area Attractions: From museums and shops to restaurants and grocery stores, our communities offer close access to a convenient lifestyle. At Renaissance at Morgan Creek for instance, you’re located close to Allentown and Bethlehem, PA. You’re never very far from major malls, shopping centers, and cute boutiques.

Community Centers: Why dirty your own home with a birthday party or worry about having enough space to host your family and friends? That’s why we have our community center, a great space to gather for parties or social events with your family or even your neighbors! Take Meadow View Farms, for example. This spacious area is a great place to host a birthday party, have lunch with the grandchildren, or play some cards with your buddies. In addition to the community center at Meadow View Farms, you even have access to a business center that boasts Wi-Fi access, as well as an on premise fitness center.

Access to Everything: Many perks are included in your fee. For instance, at Renaissance at Morgan Creek, you pay a monthly fee that includes access to the club house, pool, shuffle board, and putting green, plus snow removal, trash removal, and grass cuttings. There is no need to go off-premises to enjoy a gym – we have a great fitness center within our community to help keep our residents healthy and active without having to go too far!

5 Reasons We Love 55 and Better Active Lifestyle Communities

A home located within an active adult community can work wonders for your health and happiness. These communities offer a lot more than just low-maintenance living. Lifelong connections, countless amenities, and homes designed personally for you are only three of the five reasons Judd Builders loves their active adult communities.

Here at Judd, we offer two active lifestyle communities for the 55 and better community. Meadow View Farms and Renaissance at Morgan Creek offer some of the best living situations suited to provide you with luxury treatment. Check out why we love our active lifestyle communities and the benefits they have to offer.

Staying Connected
When you join an active adult community you are bound to make lifelong connections with your neighbors in the community. This is the first benefit of living in a 55+ community. Whether you gather in your personalized home or the community center, there’s always a place to meet with friends and build those connections!

Staying Healthy
Studies have shown that individuals that live in an active lifestyle community are much happier and healthier than those who don’t. Not only do these communities keep you in physical shape by keeping you active and giving you access to the gym at The Clubhouse, but they also increase you mental health with the connections you make with your neighbors.

Countless Amenities
Active lifestyle communities have it all including countless amenities. When you join a 55 and better community there are many amenities that make everyday living luxurious. This includes on-site amenities like The Clubhouse and fitness center as well as off-site amenities like nearby hot spots and shopping. Due to the countless features offered it’s up to you to figure out what to do with your well deserved free time.

Low-Maintenance Living
You’ve spent your fair share of time looking after you house, but when you live in an active lifestyle community you don’t have to worry about that. Mowing your lawn and shoveling snow are a thing of the past. Reclaim your time and do what your heart desires. Meadow View Farms and Renaissance at Morgan Creek were designed to give residents more free time rather than housework.

Homes Designed For You
Nothing makes living in an active lifestyle community better than owning a home that was personally designed for you. When you work with Judd Builders we offer various home models to choose from, which is only the beginning of the process. We’ll also help you design your dream home as well!

Whether your looking for a low-maintenance house or a community to connect with, you might want to consider an active lifestyle community. Not only do they improve your happiness and health, but they also offer countless benefits. You can live comfortably in your personalized home while enjoying the benefits of living in an active lifestyle community. Choosing The Right Sized Home for a Retired Couple

Comfortable white double sofa

Looking to downsize? Facing retirement? Congratulations! With your children well grown and perhaps even your grandchildren, it’s time to start thinking about the next phase of your life. As a retired couple, you may not need a lot of space anymore, plus your needs have changed over the years.

Exploring Your Interests and Lifestyle

How much room is enough room for the two of you? Well, that’s a fairly subjective question that’s different for everyone. However, that’s the first thing you should ask yourself. Do you have pets? Do you watch your grandchildren during the day? Do you have hobbies that require a lot of extra space, such as woodworking or scrapbooking? Once you decide on how much room you need, you can move on to other aspects of finding the right sized home.

Consider lifestyle – not just now but in the future as well. If you still love to entertain, you may want a large kitchen with dining room and great room big enough to house seating for guests. If you have frequent guests over for the night, such as family members and grandkids, you’ll need more than one bedroom. If you don’t entertain a lot and just prefer to be casual, you can ditch the formal dining room and parlor.

Community Life

Many retired couples find the appeal of an over-55 community attractive. They can enjoy quiet days in the company of other like-minded adults of a similar age. Other couples, however, don’t care for the isolation this involves and would prefer to live in a regular neighborhood with a variety of people around them.

Health Needs

Consider your overall health when considering the size of your home. If you have arthritis, a bad back, or other mobility issues, you may want to consider single-level living. Having no stairs means you can move from place to place without pain and inconvenience. You may also want to opt out of any sunken living rooms. Even one step can pose a problem with aging retirees.

While no one wants to think about it, you may want to plan for the possibility of being wheelchair-bound or having to use a walker when you’re older. That means wider hallways, 36-inch doorways and more of an open floor plan. In the bathroom, you may want to incorporate a step-in shower with no lip at the bottom and plenty of grab bars. Extra storage space that’s convenient to access, as well as appliances and countertops that are easy to reach, possibly from a wheelchair someday, are also good to have.

Need help choosing the right sized home for you as you retire? Judd Builders has long been at the forefront in building high quality homes with the best materials and award-winning home designs in the most desirable neighborhoods. Call or visit one of our spectacular 55+ communities: Renaissance at Morgan Creek in Quakertown, PA or Meadow View Farms in Oley, PA. We can design the perfect home so you can live out your Golden Years in comfort.”

Day Trips In Berks County

Berks County has all different types of attractions suitable for a days worth of activities for visitors as well as residents of the area. There are nature parks, water and amusement parks, farms and more! Here are some of many activities offered in Berks County, which is home of two of Judd Builders’ communities, Brookshire and Meadow View Farms:

  1. Providing hot air balloon rides daily, The U.S. Hot Air Balloon Team glides you over the countryside, where you will be able to see the breath taking Philadelphia skyline. Schedule your hot air balloon ride with the best hot air balloon pilots in the states today!
  2. Bear Creek Mountain Resort not only provides beautiful scenery, but also skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing in the winter and hiking, biking, fishing, boating, tennis and golf in the spring and summer. Delicious dining spots are available to enjoy a meal while looking out at the mountain views.
  3. Cherry-Crest Adventure Farm allows you to engage in a variety of activities relating to agriculture. This is a great trip to take family or friends for the day to experience what goes on in a day at the farm.
  4. Dutch Wonderland is a place the kids will definitely love. The park contains 34 rides, a water park called Duke’s Lagoon, as well as shows and games for children. The park also has different costumed characters; Princess Brooke, Duke the dragon and the Knight.
  5. Hawk Mountain Sanctuary is the world’s first refuge for birds of prey. Visitors travel through 8 miles of ridge and valley trails, where in the fall there’s a chance to see the hawks, eagles and falcons come by. There’s also a visitor center, bookstore and a plant garden. Open all year round!

Activities To Do With Grandkids

Grandparents And Granddaughter Reading Book At Home TogetherGetting the attention of children can be tricky sometimes, but it’s important for them to spend time with friends and family members, including their grandparents! For the grandparents who aren’t too sure about how to entertain your grandkids, here are some fun ideas to play around with that they will definitely love:

  1. Go on a scavenger hunt. This is a different activity that will entertain both parties and will also get the kids moving around. A scavenger hunt allows the kids to go on an adventure, and you don’t necessarily have to hide anything. Make a list of things you can find in nature such as a red leaf or a long twig.
  2. Look at baby books. Children are easily fascinated by seeing people they know, including themselves, at a different age than they know them now. Show them not only theirs, but their parents’ too. This is an easy and relaxing activity that can be kind of like a story time.
  3. Play cards. Teach them different games like go fish to introduce them to something new. It’ll get them thinking and your grandkids will love a little competition with you.
  4. Who doesn’t love to bake cookies? Especially children. You can have fun getting creative in the kitchen and helping your grandkids learn to measure and bake; the delicious treat you make is a bonus.
  5. Play some video or computer games to bond with your grandkids. Surprisingly, a lot of quality time can come out of these games, or even board games if that’s more up your alley. You will be surprised how much fun you’ll end up having and laughing with them as you play.

For Judd Builders’ 55+ communities, Renaissance at Morgan Creek and Meadow View Farms, these activities are perfect to plan for when the grandkids come to visit. Have some fun and connect with them on a higher level with these ideas and maybe add your own twist to them!
